Marine Plywood
IS 710 BWP marine plywood, dispatched from a port city.
Marine plywood is the one grade where the buyer is allowed to be paranoid. A BWP sheet is going somewhere wet — a hull, a galley, a humid bulkhead, an exposed bathroom soffit in coastal weather — and the cost of getting the spec wrong is delamination years before anyone expected it. We mill to IS 710:2010, the Indian phenol-formaldehyde standard that mirrors the intent of BS 1088 with practical hardwood veneer grades. Glue line resists boiling water, micro-organisms and steam; cores are hardwood, balanced ply count, ≤ 15% moisture at dispatch. Kerala's boatbuilding belt — Beypore, Vembanad houseboats, Tuticorin yards — is what trained us; FOB Cochin puts a Gulf marine refit order one container hop from the water.

Why this board
Marine ply fails at the glue line and the gaps. We close both.
Boiling-waterproof glue line
A true 100% phenolic bond that holds through boil test, humidity and the wet life a marine panel actually leads.
Full hardwood core
Gap-free hardwood veneers — no soft fillers, no voids to hold water or collapse under a fixing.
Boatyards supplied by our group since 1986
Marine grades exported FOB Cochin to boatbuilders and joinery shops on five continents.
Questions buyers ask
Marine plywood, answered.
What is IS 710 marine plywood?
IS 710 is the Indian Standard for BWP (boiling-waterproof) marine plywood — a 100% phenolic-bonded board with a hardwood core that resists water, steam and humidity without delaminating.
What is the difference between IS 710 and IS 303?
IS 710 is boiling-waterproof marine grade; IS 303 is moisture-resistant commercial grade. Different glue, different water resistance, different use. Full comparison →
What thickness should I use for a boat?
It depends on the part — thin for bending, thicker for decks and bulkheads. See the thickness guide →
Do you supply BS 1088 and what is the minimum order?
BS 1088 grade is available on request. Supply is by the container load (FCL), FOB Cochin Port.
Can I choose Okoume or Gurjan face on your marine plywood?
Yes — both face veneers are available on our IS 710 marine plywood. Okoume face is the traditional marine choice: pale, fine-grained, takes paint and varnish smoothly, and is noticeably lighter for the same panel. Gurjan/keruing face is the harder-wearing hardwood option, slightly heavier and better where the surface will see knocks before finishing. Either way the BWP/IS 710 phenolic glue line is the same — face veneer is a surface choice, not a waterproofing choice. Quote with your finish and use-case and we'll recommend.
